Terms and Conditions

1. Who we are and what these terms mean

These Terms apply to any work carried out by Southern Leak Geeks (“we”, “us”, “our”) for you (“the Customer”).

“Works” means any leak detection, repair, investigation, or related services we agree to carry out, as described in our quote, job sheet, email, or written agreement.

By booking or accepting our quote, you agree to these Terms.

2. Our agreement with you

Our quotes and job instructions are covered by these Terms.

These Terms override any other terms unless we agree something different in writing.

The full agreement between us is what’s written in your accepted quote and these Terms.

Changes must be agreed in writing (including email).

3. Pricing and quotes

If we give you a written quote, that price is valid for 28 days unless stated otherwise.

If no quote is agreed, we charge based on our standard hourly rates.

Quotes may change if:

  • The information you gave us was incorrect or incomplete
  • Material or supplier costs increase significantly

We will always tell you before making changes.

Additional costs

  • Special parts or hard-to-source items may include a ÂŁ50 + VAT collection fee.
  • We may apply a fair markup on parts we supply (up to 65% maximum).
  • All prices exclude VAT unless stated otherwise.

4. Payment

Private customers: Payment is due when the work is completed.

Account customers: Invoices are issued after completion and must be paid within 30 days.

For larger jobs with snagging:

  • 95% is payable on completion
  • 5% is payable once snagging is finished (or after 14 days if we can’t access the property)

Late payments

Late payments may be charged interest and recovery costs as allowed by law.

We may pause or withhold reports, certificates, or guarantees until payment is received in full.

5. What we will and won’t do

Descriptions on our website or quotes are general guidance only.

We will always aim to attend on time, but dates are estimates and may change due to circumstances outside our control.

6. Access and site conditions

To carry out work safely, you agree to:

  • Provide safe and clear access to the property
  • Ensure the working area is safe
  • Provide water and power if needed
  • Obtain any permissions required (e.g. from landlords or neighbours)

If we need to trace hidden systems or drains not shown on plans, extra time may be charged.

7. Waste and materials

Unless agreed otherwise, you are responsible for removing waste materials from site.

8. Weather and external factors

We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our control, such as extreme weather, supply issues, or emergencies.

9. Checking our work

Please inspect completed work as soon as possible.

Any issues should be reported within 7 days of completion.

If there is a genuine fault in our workmanship:

  • We will put it right at no cost to you (within 12 months of completion)

This does not cover:

  • Manufacturer defects in parts
  • Existing issues not related to our work
  • Damage caused by misuse or third parties
  • Structural issues (e.g. subsidence)
  • Root or external damage to drainage systems

10. Liability

We are responsible for:

  • Injury or damage caused by our negligence
  • Repairing our own faulty workmanship

We are not responsible for:

  • Pre-existing defects or weak systems
  • Damage caused by incorrect information provided to us
  • Issues outside the agreed scope of work

11. Cancellations

If you cancel within 2 hours of an appointment, a ÂŁ50 + VAT fee may apply (or 1 hour labour if we are already on site).

If you cancel a booked job:

  • More than 14 days before start: minimal or no charge
  • Less than 14 days: up to 5% fee may apply
  • Less than 7 days: up to 10% fee may apply
  • Less than 2 days: up to 20% fee may apply

If you change your mind on a quote over ÂŁ1,000, you may have a 14-day cooling-off period (unless work has already started).

12. Ownership of materials

Any materials supplied remain our property until full payment has been received.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version on our website is always the latest one.
